lams:
I don’t think it’s a generalization to say men, given the way they are socialized to interact with the other gender, at times speak to women in condescending ways. Men talk to down women. Fact.
And no, not all men ‘mansplain’ but some do. It doesn’t need to be pointed out that not all members of [majority group] do X IN EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION ABOUT A MAJORITY GROUP. Not all men do X. Trust, feminists know, but they want to talk about X right now. Not all white people do Y. Trust, anti-racists know, but they want to talk about Y right now.
Because really what you want when you ask not to spoken about in such a manner, when you ask feminists or anti-racists to curb their words with some people, is to make things comfortable for you. To attempt to be separated from the class which you benefit from.( a privilege that minority groups are not given.) Never mind that the phenomenon of X or Y makes women or racial minorities entire lives uncomfortable.
And I’m not sure how ‘mansplain’ is on the same level as ‘nigger lover’, but if you think it is, then your point does not carry weight with me.
